The nearest town which has a full range of services is Kwangwanase which is 30 kms away.

How to get here?

From Durban, travel North on the N2 past Richards Bay, Hluhluwe and Mkuze. Stop to refuel at Mkuze as it is a long way to the next refueling point. Turn off the N2 to Jozini, go through the town and cross the dam wall. The park is 72 kilometres from Jozini and is well signposted.

In a hurry? Tembe has its own grassy landing strip. Contact us to arrange a fly-in safari by light aircraft.

Guests staying at the lodge park their vehicles at the main gate and will be collected in a 4x4 game drive vehicle and transferred to the lodge. A 4 x 4 vehicle is essential for entry into the park. No sedan or 2 wheel drive vehicle will be allowed on any game viewing track in the park.

What to pack in general?

Pharmacies and retail stores are a good few hours drive away from Tembe, we recommend that you bring the following items:

Torch
Sun cream and after-sun lotion
Anti-hystamine cream and tablets
Other travel medication (Immodium, paracetamol, etc.)
Personal toiletries 
A wide brimmed hat and/or cap
A good pair of sunglasses 
Binoculars
Camera with sufficient digital memory cards or film and extra batteries or a charger

Electricity?

Standard South African electricity is available 220V 50/60Hz 
Charging laptops and mobile phones available.

Clothing and Climate?

It is wise to always pack a comfortable pair of walking or running shoes and a pair of sandals when travelling to the Tembe.With average daily temperatures ranging between 20°C in June and July to 35°C in October and November, shorts and short sleeved shirts can be worn during the day throughout the year and swimwear is useful to bring at any time as well. 

We recommend you bring a light sweater or jacket for the cooler parts of the day, a light pair of long trousers for the evenings and a light rain jacket.
